ART 323 - Layout and Typography
The layout and role of images (photos, illustrations, diagrams, graphics, motifs, etc.) in single and multiple-page designs containing type will be discussed and practiced. Using a sequence of assignments, this course concentrates on denotation, connotation, congruency between visual and verbal hierarchy, context and theme, image-type relationships and expression. Further exploration of text type and typographic specification and related technologies will also be investigated. Pre-press and technical production issues are also vital components of this course.
